Description & Tasting Notes

Why this wine?

The vineyards of Sancerre date back to the earliest antiquityFormerly planted mainly with Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc now reigns king in the region. This version is juicy and vibrant, bursting with lemony goodness, leading to a happy, bright, minerally finish.

A note about Sancerre:  The vineyards of Sancerre date back to the earliest antiquity, according to the testimonies of historical figures, such as Pliny the Elder. It was not until the twelfth century that Sancerre experienced considerable growth, thanks to the monks of Saint-Satur and the Counts of Sancerre. Formerly planted mainly with Pinot Noir, the vineyard was completely destroyed at the end of the nineteenth century by phylloxera (parasitic aphid that attacks the roots of the vine).

This is how Sauvignon Blanc, specifically well adapted to the climate of Sancerre, has found its setting, its preferred terroir.  Today, it is the king grape variety of the most famous appellation in the Centre-Loire wine region.
