Frank Pinotage 2021

Frank Pinotage 2021

Description & Tasting Notes

Why this wine?

This is a modern style of Pinotage, the grapes were handpicked and fermented in steel tanks to maintain a vibrant fruit profile. The wine was then matured for 12 months in older French and American barrels. Blackcurrant, juicy plums and notes of vanilla are enticing on the nose. The palate is smooth, with silky tannins and a refreshing acidity. The finish is full of soft, ripe berry flavors.

The Pinotage red wine grape is a signature varietal of South Africa. First cultivated in 1925 as a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (known in South Africa at the time as “Hermitage”), it typically produces deep red wines with smoky, bramble and earthy flavors, sometimes with notes of bananas and tropical fruit.
